Olvido/ Oblivion

Olvido
Allí escuchan a Lorca poemas perseguidos

Oblivion
Dry, yellow, emptyness and stones.
The crooked Mulhacén remembers the nazaríes between snow tears.
There is not proud inside the white caves,
ghosts blow windy litanies, cold wind of the sierra.
Inquisitors like twisted olive trees, without reason or memory,
erased the reasons for keeping the memory of the ditches.
People without tongue,
with your head down after riots and fires,
centuries of hunger without letters.
Under the skirts of the sierra, surrounded by stones and thistles,
Aynadamar cries her eternal tears.
There drink the horses of the ghost nazaríes,
they still ride the Alpujarras.
There they listen poems of Lorca, persecuted
by other inquisition, that is the same.
There they sing in tongues forgotten because of the fear.
With snow, wind and water the history is written.
